UNH-IOL to conduct G.fast technology chipset interop at Broadband World Forum

The University of New Hampshire InterOperability Laboratory (UNH-IOL) will host a multi-vendor G.fast interoperability demonstration with six vendors during next week’s Broadband World Forum (BBWF) in London with an aim to accelerate network rollouts and service delivery.

The new broadband technology being championed by BT is a cost-effective way of delivering fast internet speeds, an expert has said. Lincoln Lavoie said fibre broadband is a futureproof long-term solution but comes “at a huge cost”. The University of New Hampshire InterOperabilty Laboratory (UNH-IOL) said it’s making progress with a certification program tied to G.fast, an emerging standardthat will bring gigabit speeds to DSL networks and help telcos better compete against cable’s DOCSIS platform.
